#retirementrocks

That has been my hashtag on my Instagram posts for a few weeks now. It's been 3 1/2 weeks of retirement. I thought I'd have a problem and continue to wake up at 5:15 a.m. when I no longer need to. You know what? That hasn't happened, not even once.

My alarm Sunday through Friday, is set for 7:15 a.m. I thought by now I'd be able to wake without an alarm clock, but not yet. My body is adjusting to 8 1/2 hours of nightly sleep and it's wonderful. Most days of the week I go to the gym first thing in the morning.

Then I come home and many mornings I'm in time to join Wally for breakfast, often times making it for us both. After breakfast I shower, dress, do my hair and makeup and I'm ready for the day by about 9:30 a.m.

The first week of retirement was the Annual Sew Expo at the fairgrounds. I was able to take a four hour class which was quite fun. Then for two days I shopped and took a few more 45 minute seminars. My friend Loretta came to town and stayed a couple of days with us. We enjoyed dinner at Wally's Chowder House one night.

Over the last 3 weeks I've spent time sewing, some cleaning projects, quilting, made caramels, ate out too much, went to the grocery store a lot, read books, watched TV and just generally enjoyed relaxing. I'm getting into a what I think is a pretty good routine. There are still things I haven't done yet that I want to do. Writing here more often is on my list. But not much has been happening yet to write about!

I was spoiled when I retired with great gift cards and lunches. I'll be planning a massage soon and a shopping trip to Kohl's.

There have been some adjustments to make, but all in all it's been fabulous!

It's spring time in Seattle which means lots of rain. Other than one afternoon trimming shrubs, I haven't really been able to get out and do any yard work yet. I'm actually looking forward to having more time in the yard.
